Joseph Pilates
Adding a movement and exercise based specialism to my skill base in 2017 made perfect sense, as it is now indisputable that longterm health and wellbeing depends on keeping strong and mobile. Regardless of age or ability the message is the same - keep moving in all directions and load your muscles!
Pilates is a proven, effective and challenging exercise regime which has been around for a long time, evolving with exercise science. It helps individuals reconnect with their body's deep stabilising muscle system to build strength, stability and mobility. It works the whole body in all planes creating conscious control and restoring effective and functional movement patterns. The result is more efficient, controlled and confident movement.
I have developed a style of teaching that combines traditional Pilates with the latest evidence based strength and conditioning techniques to deliver a stimulating and unique exercise experience - one class is never the same. I use a varied selection of small equipment such as weights, resistance bands, small Pilates balls, magic circles and foam rollers to add real diversity and impact so clients can feel a positive and progressive difference. Every class can be adapted to an individual's specific needs and levels - it is not a one size fits all exercise regime.
If you are looking to rebuild confidence in your fitness and ability, Pilates offers the perfect foundation from which to start reprogramming your movement patterns and regaining that all important brain and body control. If you are already very active, incorporating Pilates into a weekly activity schedule can balance out the effects of other lifestyle routines and help you gain long term freedom from injury and restriction.
I teach several classes in Budleigh Salterton maximum 10-12 people per class, beginners maximum 8 people. Please get in touch if you would like to join my large community of merry Pilates die-hards or newbies. I adapt classes to cater for all abilities and needs.
